Art-Inspired Photography

Written by Kaki West

Whether you’re a professional photographer or just taking selfies, coming up with a theme or idea for a photograph can be a challenging task. But as you can see from professional Kaki West images, a theme can make or break a photograph. If you’re running out of ideas, get inspired by the work of your favorite artists. Model and actress Kaki West offers the following tips on how to create art-inspired photos.

Recreate the image. Using a similar setting, recreate the exact story of your favorite painting. For example, if you’re using Picasso’s famous painting “The Scream,” you can have a model stand on a bridge during sunset and take the photograph as the model makes the same “scream” face as in the painting.

Create your own version of a classic. Another way to get inspired by your favorite artwork is to create your own take of the piece. For example, if you’re using Picasso’s painting of “The Old Guitarist,” you can use a blue curtain as a backdrop to your photograph. Then, instead of having the model copy the same pose and solemn mood of the photograph, have the model look up with a smile. You might still want him to cross his legs and hold the guitar so that it will be obvious you’re producing your own version of the painting.
